PeopleSoft Installation Using DPK's - Part 1

In this post, we will subscribe for free google cloud and deploy a Red Hat Linux Server on it.


Google Free Trial Subscription

In this post, we will see how to subscribe for free tier of Google Cloud. Its simple and in few steps it will be completed. The only prerequisite is you should have a google account… that's all !!


Click on “TRY IT FREE”

Enter your login details.


Accept the Terms and Conditions


Enter your details - Type Individual, Address

Enter your credit card details, its required just for verification.

Click on Start by free trial and your google subscription is ready.



The next step is to provision a machine with supported operating system.

Deploy a Linux Server on Google Cloud

Before going ahead, make sure that you have subscribed to free google cloud.

Now, we will deploy a server having operating systems Red Hat Linux (RHEL 6) which is a supported OS for PeopleTools 8.55.

Login to your google cloud console.

Navigate to Compute Engine → VM Instances


Click on Create button


Enter the name of your instance and assign memory to it. We have assigned 16 GB.

Now, we will select required Operating System


We have assigned 500GB to it.

Scroll down and set the following options.

Once done, click on the create button to deploy and start the instance.

Stop the instance now, so that we can assign a static IP address to it.

Once stopped, click on the instance name

Give a name and select the instance to which you want to assign the static IP address.

Once done, click on the Reserve button.

We can now see the new IP address assigned to it.

Now, start the instance

Once started, connect to the machine.

So, if you are able to connect then we are ready to go for the installation. We will see it in the next post.
